Opie was my problem child.

Everyone told me to re-home him…some suggested something MUCH worse…

Today, Opie has passed the tests for Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Advanced, Canine Good Citizen Urban, and he’s a Novice Trick Dog.
When we go to the farmer’s market, I’m not gonna lie…

That’s more common than you’d think — and honestly, it often comes down to who you hired. Not all dog trainers are created equal. It’s critical to work with a certified dog trainer who has completed hands-on experience requirements, passed testing, and participates in ongoing education. And even then, you want someone who specializes in behavior — not just teaching dogs to sit, spin, or high-five.
If you’ve worked with someone before and didn’t get results, I’d gently encourage you to look at their credentials.
Were they certified? Did they understand reactivity, fear, aggression, or anxiety? Or were they more focused on surface-level obedience?And here's something most people miss: just because someone can train dogs doesn’t mean they’re great at teaching humans.
That’s where I’m different. Before I was a full-time dog trainer, I was a music teacher for over 11 years. I’ve worked with every type of learner, including those with learning disabilities and neurodivergence.
